Wisdom from an almost 39-year-old woman

Life is about learning the right questions to ask. A person must have some kind of knowledge about a subject in order to ask a question about it. So...saying "do you have any questions?" may not be the best way to check for understanding. You may say, "is there anyone that doesn't have a clue, but isn't able to ask a particular question?" It may be scary how many hands go up!

Interesting. I may try that in one of my classes just to see what happens. But then again, I may not know what to do if everyone raises their hand.

It isn't as scary as you think actually.....I sometimes preface a question like that with how I was always afraid to ask questions in class and how much I missed out on by not speaking up......amazing how supplying just a tid bit of information to 5th graders can open up the silent ones.....
